Make Sure You're Ready!

Take the time to ensure you give your new grass the best chance to thrive and become the yard that you've dreamed of. Following these steps will help you achieve a final product that you will be proud of!

Measure Your Yard

Measure the area where you plan to install your new grass. If your yard is an irregular shape, try to divide the area into easily measured blocks.

Each pallet of grass covers about 450 square feet. Take your total square footage and divide by 450. This is how many pallets you will need.

Try to include a little extra grass. You would rather have a few too many pieces than not enough!

SOIL PREPERATION

Good soil preparation is essential for healthy sod grass growth. By following these guidelines, you’ll be on your way to a beautiful lawn.

  1. Begin by removing any surface rocks or debris.

  2. Till soil to a depth of 4" to 6." As you are working the soil additional debris may appear which should be removed.

  3. Work the soil to create a level surface for installation. Use a roller as a final step to eliminate any air pockets. This will reduce settling which will lead to an uneven surface.

  4. Your final grade should be 1/2" - 1" below walkways, and 1/2" below sprinkler heads.
